Zoa+Dubarry

More about me…

… I’m the founder of Studio Dubarry, with a breadth of experience in the interior design industry. A resident of Hawaii since 2006. Diamond Head Honolulu is where I call home with my husband, who continues to (attempt) to teach me his native French, and our young child who happily consumes all my spare time.

With a Bachelor degree in Applied Interior Design, CIDA accredited from Mount Royal University, Calgary Canada, I passed the NCIDQ Exam (a North American broad-based exam that includes seven years education and training of Interior Design with many late nights of studying) in 2009. I also passed the LEED Exam (a North American exam based on environmental stability) in 2009.

Working for top Interior Design and Architectural firms in both Canada and Hawaii, I have designed hotels, banks, offices, large homes and small homes, local coffee shops, cookie shops and shave ice shops. My passion is designing homes for clients that have a busy life and want a perfect space to come home to. Their own hale on these beautiful islands.

I have contributed to a number of award winning projects including a residential home on Lanai that received the California Home and Design Award for Residential Interior Design (+3000 SF), the Hawaii Chapter Grand Overall Award for a large residence, and the historic Royal Hawaiian Resort located in Waikiki.

Other areas of expertise include working on budget focused projects and understanding the importance of providing overall budgets and timelines to keep client’s expectations met during the design process. I know the importance of collaborating with a team to ensure that the best possible resolution is made when challenges arise.

My design packages are fine-tuned to give a strong understanding of design that can be expressed over email and video conference when meetings cannot be attended in person. I have worked on projects where I am based on Oahu, the client is based in Reno, the contractor and project are based on Lanai, and the furniture is fabricated in Bali. I pride myself on being a visual communicator to keep projects moving forward.
